Members of the Jefferson Rotary Club have begun soliciting donors for a wide variety of items, travel packages, entertainment and sporting event tickets, dining delicacies, and other contributions for the club’s 18th annual dinner and charity auction, to be held Friday, Nov. 4, in the Greene Room Events Center at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson. Cash donations are also very welcome.
At the same time the Rotarians are now selling tickets for the plated dinner meal, which also includes complimentary wine. Andy Harland at Don’s Ace Hardware is ticket sales chair. The social hour begins at 5:30 pm at the Nov. 4 event, with the meal at 6:30 and the live auction to follow. The auction will include both live and silent formats.
“There’s something for everyone at this auction,” said John Brunow, chair of the event. “It’s a fun and entertaining evening, not to mention a wonderful meal to enjoy with friends. What better way to spend an evening to benefit so many in the community and county.
“This event would not be possible without the generous support of countless Greene county businesses and individuals, and many supporters from beyond the area. We sincerely thank them for their ongoing support,” said Brunow. “Our members work with the hundreds of donors who provide goods, services and financial support to assemble dozens of auction packages of interest to our bidders.”
Raffle tickets for drawings for a number of $250 cash winners are also available from any Rotary member. Each raffle ticket has several chances to be drawn for the cash prizes. Raffle ticket holders need not be present to win in the cash drawings.
In addition, the event’s popular hog raffle will be back again this year. Hog raffle tickets will be available at the dinner auction, as will tickets for the cash raffles. The hog is donated by Larry Thomsen of rural Jefferson.
The Rotary Club expects this year’s auction proceeds to lift the club’s charitable contributions above the $500,000 level for the 18-year total from the event. Proceeds from the fundraising in the past have touched nearly everyone in the area: schools, Meals on Wheels, mentoring of youngsters, the food pantry and Webb House youth center, scholarships, Habitat for Humanity and Adopt-a-Family, the Doreen Wilber statue, Thomas Jefferson Gardens, and many other efforts.
